Reminder! Veterans Tags Applications due July 1, 2009
Apr 7th, 2009 | By admin | Category: News and AlertsSCDMV has been authorized to issue a Veteran Specialty Plate for use on private passenger motor vehicles and motorcycles registered to SC residents who have served in the United States Armed Forces, active or reserve components, and have been honorably discharged from service.
The Department must receive 400 prepaid applications for each type of plate prior to producing the plate. Qualified individuals may submit their application and deposit through the mail or at their local field office.
To apply for the plate, please submit the following:
Passenger
- Completed MV-37A
- Copy of DD-214 showing honorable discharge
- $12.00 Deposit Check or Money Order
Motorcycle
- Completed MV-37B
- Copy of DD-214 showing honorable discharge
- $5.00 Deposit Check or Money Order
The Department will hold the application and the deposit until 400 applications have been received. Once the Department has received the required number of applications for a particular plate type, the applicant will be contacted for any additional fees that may be due. At that time, the applicant may also be required to submit proof of payment of property tax.
Note: If the Department has not received the required 400 prepaid applications by July 1, 2009, all applications and deposit checks or money orders will be returned to the applicant.
