ABATE of South Carolina Board of Directors meeting report.

1.   Alive at 25 is now all paid for.

2.  Stress selling ABATE sponsorships to local businesses (see monthly newsletter)

3.  Send in a couple new photos to Tripod each month for the middle pages of the newsletter.
(Tired of seeing the same old faces.)

4.  Products – Need someone to take over as state products coordinator as Don Ard is now the
Area Coordinator.

5. Lobby Day – 12 Jan 2010 (Thursday) – Statehouse in Columbia – After party at Hard Knocks on Knox Abbott  in Cayce, SC .  Cliff and Jeff will order 150 patches to distribute to participants.  We want as many
participants as possible on this ride.   It is truly a show of force for the legislators so that they know we are there and that there are a lot of us!!!

6.  Beast of the East – 9 – 11 April 2010 in Greenville, SC at the Crown Plaza Hotel.

a.         ABATE of SC will provide and man a hospitality room – need contributions of money and liquor to help
defray the costs associated.  Tom McGraff’s office will help out with this!

b. We need to get Dixie Thunder signed up as a Sustaining Member of the MRF ($100.00 ??).   Once done
all members of Dixie Thunder that want to go can go without having to pay any other attendance fees.   Room and board is not included of course.

c. Crown Plaza is charging $99.00 per night for rooms.

d. MRF will do product sales as well as ABATE of SC as host.

e. ABATE of SC will have to get the following done:

(1)  Registration packets

(2) Printing of MRF Conference book

f  Silent Auction – get a patch from each Chapter (Dixie Thunder) to have sewn onto vest to be auctioned off.

g  Motion made and passed to authorize expenditures up to a certain dollar amount for the Beast of the
East.

7. Legislative – Cliff Dalton

a.         Legislative meeting next month on 1^st Saturday.

b.         14 – 15 Nov 09 – Patriot Expo at Myrtle Beach.

c.         912 Project rally at State house around 1 p.m. on 9 Jan 2010.

8.         Membership – Use rides and Toy Runs as recruitment vehicles.  Make sure someone talks about membership in ABATE at each function.

9.         Life Membership issue was discussed.   Many varied opinions on this.   Problems is that we have no historical membership records available to get a grip on how long each members has been a continuous member
of ABATE.   Talk about it at Chapter level and will discuss options again at next BOD meeting.

10.      Corporation (C4) papers have still not been filed.   No accounting for delay on this.

11.      Willard – wants Chapter to pick Chapter Run/Chapter Event that we want state wide support on so that he can put together a state calendar with all runs on it.   He wants a flyer for the run with all information (where, when, what , etc) on it.

12.     It was also suggested by Willard that we put an events page in the newsletter so that all will be able to see what events are going on.    We need to make sure that we have flyers prepared long enough in advance to get them in to Tripod in a timely manner.
